Banana Bread

This is a great recipe that we use at our house all the time, although I must admit my kids love it more when we use all chocolate chips in the recipe

Ingredients

2 very ripe Bananas
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup whole-wheat flour
2-teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp grated nutmeg
1 tbsp orange zest
1/3 cup chopped toasted walnuts
1/3 cup chocolate chips
2 eggs
¾ cup brown sugar
6 tbsp unsalted butter
½ cup milk

Procedure

Preheat your oven to 350.  In a bowl add both types of flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, orange zest, nuts, chocolate chips and nutmeg.  In another bowl mash the bananas with a fork.  Then in a mixing bowl add eggs, brown sugar, melted butter and milk.  Mix until blended, and then add dry ingredients and bananas to the wet mixture a little at a time.  Be sure to mix at low speed so you don’t over mix.  Butter and flour and loaf pan.  Pour the mixture into the loaf pan and bake for about an hour.

I enjoy this cake best for breakfast, toasted with a little peanut butter on top.
