Perfectly Grilled Corn

By May 23, 2013Recipes, Vegetables

Corn is a summertime favorite, but at many BBQ’s the corn ends up being dried out, charred from the grill or just tasteless.  Try my simple foolproof way to perfect corn every time.

Ingredients

Corn
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper

Procedure

First you want to remove the inner silk hair from the corn.  The best way to do this is to peel back the outer layers but don’t pull them all the way off.  You want the corn husk to look like a banana that has been peeled back but the peel is still attached at the bottom.  Next, pull the silk from the corn.   There is no perfect way to do this, I pull from the top so that most of the silk comes off and then run my hands over the kernels to remove any stray hairs.  Now you want to soak the outer husk in water so that when you put it on the grill it does not burn.  Allow the corn to soak for 10 minutes.  In the meantime preheat your grill to medium high heat.  Pull back the outer husk again and with a paper towel dry the corn kernels.  Now drizzle olive oil all over the corn but NOT the husk, and then season with salt and pepper.  Put the husk back over the corn and place on the grill.  Allow the corn to grill for 12 to 15 minutes, turning every 3 minutes or so.  You end result will be sweet juicy corn with a wonderful roasted flavor.  No additional seasoning necessary, just peep back the husk and Enjoy!
