Easy way to peel and roast chestnuts

Everbody loves chestnuts around the holidays. I can hear the music playing Chestnuts roasting on an open fireā€¦..But they are just such a pain in the neck to peel. Try my easy way to enjoy chestnuts.

The old way is to make cross cuts in the chestnut.

Roast and they split open, sort of. But they can be such a challenge to peel and open. And they make such a mess.

Try your chestnuts this way. Using a sturdy sharp paring knife cut the chestnut around the radius.

The chestnut should look like this when you are finished.

Now put the chestnuts in a pan and roast to 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. When they are done the chestnuts will look like clams that popped open.

Now just pop the shells open and the chestnut comes right out.

Its that easy. Now you can serve them just like that in the shell. Remove from the shell and drizzle with a little honey. Use them as a garnish on a fruit platter or just peel and eat them. Enjoy!!
